HISTORIC
UNITED NATIONS SECURITY COUNCIL
The United Nations Security Council (UNSC) is the principal organ of the United Nations responsible for maintaining international peace and security. Established in 1945 after the Second World War, the Council addresses conflicts, authorizes peacekeeping operations, imposes sanctions, and recommends measures to resolve international disputes. Comprising five permanent members with veto power and ten non-permanent members elected for two-year terms, the UNSC serves as the world’s foremost platform for global diplomacy and collective security. Throughout history, it has played a pivotal role in responding to wars, humanitarian crises, and threats to international stability.
